iriver W10 revealed on teaser site –Filed under: Portable Audio, Portable Video
We’d probably be more inclined to gripe about iriver stringing us along like this — five gadgets, five days, hardly any hard facts — if there wasn’t so much sexy to the devices and photographs the DAP manufacturer is tossing up every 24 hours or so. Today’s gadget is the iriver W10, a slim little touchscreen number we got to play with at CES, which seems to swipe some of the iPhone’s interface ideas for touchscreen VoIP dialing, while still sticking with those WPS (WiFi positioning system) and PDA / e-book / PMP features we heard about before. We wish we had more to tell you, like price or a release date, but two things are certain: iriver seems bent on swiping every gadget dollar we’ve ever stashed, and is singlehandedly keeping the hand modelling industry in business.

A slingplayer for your mobile device? This is insane. I still haven’t gotten a slingbox yet, but after talking with many people. It looks like it would be a good investment.
Sling Releases SlingPlayer Mobile For WM6 –Just a quick heads up to anyone with a new HTC Touch perhaps and a Slingbox. Sling Media released a new Windows Mobile 6 version of the popular SlingPlayer. You can now watch your favorite local TV while on a bus, train, or in your neighbor’s crack den. Lovely.
It’s $30 for an upgrade to the WM6 version but if you’ve been using the WM5 version for a while now, it’s a free upgrade for you.

This is an interesting read of other people in the business that write all about technology and get paid for it. I guess we’re all trying to get to a point in our life where we can do something we enjoy and also be financially stable at the same time. This is a good way to start.
Writers Write “B-Logs,” Get Money –USA Today, that bastion of hard news, is covering a new fad popular with the kids called “B-logging.” They talk about two “b-loggers,” Om Malley and Mike Orvington, who used to work at real jobs and now eat ice cream and write about computers.
Now I don’t know who these people are or what they think they’re doing, but I think it’s bad to show people that you can make “real money” — how much, Om Malley? $5? HA! — doing this. There are jobs that Americans should be doing — car repair, HVAC installation, dance instruction — that are going empty while these two jokers sit around all day pretending to work. For shame. “B-logging,” like stamp collecting and religious observance, should be considered a hobby and nothing more. Let’s not encourage these bozos.

Google says Vista search changes not enough –Google reacts to Microsoft’s joint filing with the DOJ, calling for more changes to the way Vista works with third-party search products. Microsoft’s changes fall far short of Google’s requests.

Verizon’s now trying to capitalize on typo squatting? Will we see relevant AD’s while Verizon finds the correct site?
SiteFinder redux? Verizon tests DNS redirect service –Verizon has begun to test a new URL redirection service in some midwestern states and bills it as a handy tool to help out users when they mistype something. Others don’t quite see it the same way.

Get A Blackberry Curve For $49 Without Hassle –If you’re in the market for a new phone and the Blackberry Curve has caught your eye, don’t go walking into an AT&T store just yet. Amazon is offering the device for a cheap-as-hell $49 without any rebates whatsoever. Yup, just plug in your credit card, place an order, and you’ve got yourself a Curve for under fifty bucks.
One slight issue. If you break AT&T’s terms of service agreement in 181 days after the purchase, you get hit with a $250 fee from Amazon in addition to the normal fees AT&T will charge you. So tread carefully on this amazing deal.

Fortier & Co. Makes Stylin’ Body Armor –Those of our readers who are aspiring rap artists should pay close attention. Frontier & Co. works with big name clothing designers like Burberry, YSL, Kenneth Cole, etc. to design body armor that blends in naturally with your apparel. Take for instance this beautiful trenchcoat from Burberry. It uses ballistic fibers that are stronger than steel, yet lightweight, to protect you from oncoming bullets. It also doubles as an incredibly handsome coat.
Unfortunately, protection and style do not come cheap. The aforementioned coat will set you back $2195 for the basic model. That means you could end up spending some serious cash if you’re worried about being taken out by an AK-47.
